Duale's milk request
The august house has always been known to be a respectable chamber in any country. However, in recent years the legislative house has become a house of wonders. Just to cite a few cases: recently the Uganda’s house of representative turned into a boxing ring when the opposition members clashed with the ruling coalition over the extension of the presidential age limit, in Kenya the August house have always been on the spot in different occasions after misbehaving and doing what they like doing most. In a recent scenario a deputy speaker was sprinkled with water that was supposedly for drinking ‘uninyunyizie maji…bwana’.
As if that is not enough today 15th December 2017 a member of parliament was spotted getting into the August house with a tea flask. The majority leader, Adan Duale, noticed this and asked the speaker of the house to confirm if that was in order with the house rules and if it was okay he should be allowed to bring with him a guard full of milk . Esther Passaris, the Women Rep in question here, is said to have been spotted with a tea flask in the chambers. The speaker of the house Justin Muturi requested the sergeant at arms to be vigilant when ushering in the members of parliament. The Members should not get into the chambers with anything that can be used as a weapon in the house. A flask with hot tea can be a very dangerous weapon in the parliament in case there is a confrontation.
NB: The majority leader wants to be allowed to get into the August house with a guard containing camels milk. We are still waiting to hear what the Speaker will say about his request.
