Neo-Slavery in Libya

SLAVERY IN AFRICA (LIBYA) TO EUROPE
INTRODUCTION
The European Union is working with Libyan coast guards to reduce the number of migrants crossing the Mediterranean Sea. But many of those intercepted end up in detention centers in Libya where some immigrants say they are used as slaves.
WHY LIBYA IS USED AS THE ROUTE IN AFRICA
Thousands who dream of a better life in Europe face horrors of modern slavery on way across the Sahara to Libya.
Libya is mainly used as the route due to:
1) There is no stable government - The government collapsed and the country slid into chaos following the death of Muammar Gaddaffi in 2011.
Two rival governments; an ISIS franchise and countless local militias competing for control of a vast sparsely populated territory awash in weapons, have allowed traffickers to flourish.
Libya is near to European countries that those other northern countries in Africa
WHYPEOPLE ARE MOVING FROM THEIR COUNTRIES
Some people leave their countries for economic reasons.
People are promised jobs in Europe such jobs include housemaids for women.
They believe that going to Europe will eradicate poverty in them.
WHATS HAPPENING IN LIBYA
Libya is now at war and do not have a stable government in power.
Some European countries are benefiting now when there is war in Libya because they are stealing oil.
